A few years back I tried out running a Drupal site on an AWS instance for my One Name Study. Things went pretty well until I made the mistake of doing an update of the Ubuntu Server without first taking a snapshot or backup. I made a couple of attempts to resurrect it, but ran into all sorts of problems with the old snapshots, versions of software, and a few bugs where advertised work-arounds did not work for me.
Thanks to the GoONS Newswatch Project, I received a copy of the Funeral Notice for Denzil (Ray) Gammons from the Herts Advertiser. I managed to piece together a bit of his family, but was unable to work out who his parents were without spending money on a birth certificate. He did not come up on the 1939 Register either, and the 1921 census is not yet publically available.
Descendants of Gammons, Denzil Raymond
I have not yet finished entering the information I have to hand for this family, but thought I would upload what I had so far.
This tree came about after Pamela HORNER contacted me about helping her to find out where in England Philip and his brother Joseph originated from. Maybe a trip to the SoG will help out here. There are also many trees on Ancestry.com that are connected with this family, so I should be able to add lots more information over time.

Over a year ago I received an email from Margaret CHATER regarding her Uncle Walter. He was a private in the First World War and Margaret has visited his grave in the Bray Hill British Cemetery at Bray-sur-Somme in France. I am still working on documenting his family who seem to have originated in North Devon like my family.
I am uploading this family very early - it is no where near finished. From information provided by Malcom GAMMON, I have quickly entered this tree into my Gramps software. Malcom lives in Australia, and like my family, his family comes from North Devon. The next step is to find Stanley GAMMON in the 1911 census andwork back through the 1800s in the other censuses.

He married Parkin, Ivy M in 1921-09-00 in Barnstaple, Devonshire,
Spouse: Parkin, Ivy M.
This family tree is courtesy of someone with the user name of boyduk on Ancestry.co.uk. The family is linked to my tree (MINE) by Prudence GAMMON who married Thomas GAMMON. I have found the family in as many censuses as I could over the last week, and looked for births, marriages and deaths in my indexes. Unfortunately I cannot locate a transcription of the Mortehoe parish records, and therefore I cannot take the family any further back. I need to find Thomas GAMMON's baptism to identify his parents. The following is a descendant report from my database:
This famliy was quickly pulled together after another Guild Newswatch watcher sent me a copy of a thankyou notice from the Basingstoke Gazette of 6th September 2012. In this notice, the family were thanking everyone who sent messages, donations and attended the funeral for Lilian May Gammon. A little trawling on the internet found me a little information on Lilian and her husband Dennis who lived in the Witchurch area of Hampshire. Using the marriage and birth indexes, I found Denis's father Cecil Gammon, and Cecil's wife Kathleen Downer.
